Another fun day

Yesterday, while taking a walk, I spotted this dog on a table, in front of his masters rv..

When I got home to my rv I looked out the window and I had company.

The woodpecker was busy putting a few more holes in the fence post.

In the afternoon, when I woke up from my nap,(tough life) I heard some cattle making noise and looked out the window . It is a good thing my camera is always by the door, ready for photo opportunities.

Here comes the cowboy and cowgirl or should I say cowpersons.
The end of the short cattle drive.

Big Sur Trip January 12th, 2011

My friends from the camera club and I went to Big Sur...We spent the day taking lots of images of the Big Sur area. I am getting a little lazy about hauling around large cameras all day, especially when I am going to hike down to the beach. So I took my new Panasonic Fz35 camera with a real small tripod..All of the following images have been processed in Photoshop cs4 with Topaz Plug ins..Here are some of the first images of the day:

We had to drive a long way to get to Pfeiffer State Beach before sunset.. There are no signs to to let you know when you are there..so we had to stop and get directions. To get to the beach is a two mile ride down a curvy one way road..We arrived a few minutes before sunset. Here are my favorite images of the evening sunset:
When we arrived there were lots of photographers waiting for the sun to set to get photographs of the sun coming through the hole in the rock
Here are a couple of images, of the sun coming through the hole in the rock, at Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur,California

After the sun sets there are still more photo oppurtunities, if you have a tripod:

The last image has a little hole in the rock...What a great way to end a beautiful day.

January 18th Sunset and Moon

What a gorgeous evening it was...great sunset.. I was taking a walk with my friend Bob and his dog Penny.. Thank goodness I always have my little Fuji F70 point and shoot camera with me.. The sunset was so great I had to take a couple of photos:
(Both of these images has been processed in photoshop cs4 with Topaz plug-ins, and a curves adjustment.
I also use Selective Color adjustment in photoshop to bring out the blues and reds in the sky. )

We started walking back to our campsite and I looked up to see the moon rising in the sky so here are some moon images after processing in photoshop, topaz adjust, and topaz simplify.

What a great way to end an evening.

Converting A Color Image To Brown Tone

I ran across an old slide with a portrait of a friend of mine, taken in 1974.

I thought it would be fun to change this image to brown tone and add a frame to it.. I opened it in photoshop and added a frame to the original with " OnOne Software's" free photoframe 4.5. Then I used Russell Brown's Black and White Variations Action to add a brown tone to the portrait. Then I lightened his face just a little. http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html
.. Here is the result:
